Things can't be all that bad! A bunch of officials from Wachovia, the, er, "troubled'' big bank that will be taken over by Wells Fargo, probably with some money from you and me -- the ingenuous taxpayers -- left Saturday for an all-expenses-paid cruise amongt Greek islands.

Maybe they'll be back before President Bush, in cooperation with the rest of the G-8 -- plus China! -- declares a bank holiday.

What are you doing here?

A bunch of wildlife officials have saved a lost manatee in a harbor in Dennis, on Cape Cod, and sent it back to semi-tropical waters in Florida where it belongs. What a triumph of the mammalian spirit that it got way up here. Did it take the Intercoastal? The beast recalls the leopard in Hemingway's story "The Snows of Kilimanjaro."

regarding the meandering manatee, it reminds me of that dog who roamed so far and wide he ended up a statue in Central Park...nice, Bob, as always.
