Some polling places are still working on real-time details. At Temple Beth-El on Providence's East Side there was a very long line this morning as hundreds showed up at 7 to vote. The line was especially long because while there was officially an "A'' line and a "B'' line officials saw fit to direct everyone to the "B'' line although the "A'' line table was staffed by well-caffeinated election workers, too! I hope they have since fixed the problem.
A pathetic aspect of the ballot there -- no competition for incumbents in local races for the state legislature. One could have written in some comedians' names, of course. But in any event, members of the Supreme Soviet would have felt right at home. Our decrepit democracy.
