Maine's legislature seems likely to vote to allow marriage between homosexuals. It's unclear what Gov. John Baldacci would do with such a bill. You can bet he is trying to gauge its popularity in the general public, which will probably not be allowed to vote on the topic and is far more worried about the economy than gay rights at the moment anyway.

As usual, the rural folks tend to dislike gay marriage, while the with-it crowd in Portland and the college towns such as Brunswick like it.

Clean Power Now, the main pro-Cape Wind group, is hosting a group of 16 Danish journalists at a lunch in Hyannis on Friday.

Denmark is the site of the most impressive offshore wind farms in the world. It will be interesting to hear what they think of the interminable dispute over Nantucket Sound.

Painting reminds me of the back seat of my car after lendng it to my grandchildren this week.

they were carrying cans of paint to the dump. I could have sold the seats as works of art instead of having to pay to have the car detailed..
