(I am in the Far East until late this week.)

The islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket are losing much of their deliveries of daily newspapers from off-island as newspaper companies and their distributors cut back the expensive effort to get papers out there.

Perhaps the distributors will try to boost sales at the island ferry ports in New Bedford, Woods Hole and Hyannis as a partial offset.

Or perhaps some of these off-island papers will create new special news blogs for the Islands to try to make up some of the loss -- especially in the summer, when Nantucket and Martha''s Vineyard have so many wealthy people beloved by advertisers.
