I came across this winner in today's Providence Journal blog on projo.com. It is almost incredible to see the speed and brazenness of last-minute special-interest legislation -- the public be damned, recession or not
I have seen it in the state legislatures in the five state legislatures that I have followed closely in my career. But this year, Rhode Island's solons seem to be the most brazen.
"PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A fast-moving bill backed by organized labor to retroactively allow double payments for the same injury from the state's workers' compensation and retirement systems is slated for a vote Wednesday by the full Senate, despite strongly worded objections from new state Treasurer Gina Raimondo.''
Still, Rhode Island can't match the string of naughty Massachusetts House speakers....
